Wow I don’t even know where the best place to start this blog due to the way Cambodia and my host family deeply affected me. I tear up thinking about the love I have received from this country and its people! From day one it was as clear this is a group of people that at their core are good. This was shown their beautiful smiles and waves. With a willingness to serve with selflessnes, nothing in return, and a joyful attitude the whole time was such a loving reminder of Gods loves for us. And these characteristics are just about the people of this country. I don’t even think I could put in words to describe our phenomenal host family but I will surely try. I remember from the minute we stepped out of the van and Rebecca and her cousin start hauling my bag up the stairs I was the touched. I’m doing to give you a snippet of each family so you are able to get a glimpse of the blessing I was able to experience for 2 months! Lecrue what a man of God he had such a faith that God would provide and a devtion to represent Gods character. He was also a massive jokester lots of banter on how we pronounce Khmer words. Or the funny things we as Americans do whether that was our love for sleep, our love for their sauce, or some of the girls lack of chopstick skills! Necru even though she did not speak English we communicated our love for each other through smiles or me watching her incredible cooking abilities. Getting to watch her cook was always so comforting beaucse it reminded me of my mom and cooking with her! David their second oldest was the biggest jokester of the all but he loved and cared so much. Always loving for how he could serve and care for us. Him and his wife are expecting a baby this month! Jonathan their middle child was always down to clown and take bad pictures of us. We never really knew when he would show up since he went to college 8 hours away but it was always a suprising treat when he did.it was encouraging to hear how God is moving in Jonathans life. Peter their youngest was always down to tag along. I drived Peter crazy because I would ask him so many questions, he too, cared so much. Lastly their oldest Rebecca what a beautiful child of God inside and out. She accepted us as her sisters with open arms and adoration. As we all continued to share love and vulnerability with each other their family quickly became the best part of Cambodia! That even going on weekend trips felt odd because where is the rest of our team. Through this family being the truest example of what it’s means to be selfless and loving. My team was able to grow in these characteristics. It also was an environment where we got to rest in God love (which we continue to do) and rest in the love of our host We are now prepared to pour out and pour out in the fullest for our next ministry that will be every emotionally and spiritually heavy! What a blessing it was to stay in Cambodia! This country and its people have changed me permanently and I’m grateful! God truly loves his people. Until we meet again!
